Mary Nelson is President Emeritus of Bethel new Life, Where she served for 26 years. Bethel pioneered in creative community based efforts to build healthier, sustainable and equitable communities on Chicago's west side. She serves on the Boards of sojourners, Christian Community Development Association, Good City and is past Board President of Woodstock Institute. Mary has her PhD from Union Graduate School and six honorary PhDs, and is now doing consulting, writing and teaching in faith based- and community development. She lives, works and worships on the Westside of Chicago. She is on the faculty of ABCD Institute (Northwestern University) , Loyola university Insistute of Pastoral Studies, CCDA Institute, and SCUPE and does consulting and speaking.

Lifetime Achievement Award
Jacqueline Reed is the Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Westside Health Authority (WHA). WHA is a 21 year old community based organization located in Austin, which seeks to build the capacity of local residents to improve their community by: increasing access to quality health care; improving job and educational opportunities; creating avenues for successful ex-offender reentry; and providing social, recreational and academic activities for youth. The foundation of WHA's work is its community organizing initiative, Every Block A Village (EBV) which is a network of over 100 blocks in the Austin community. Through EBV, neighbors build trusting relationships on the values of mutual caring, sharing and giving, and use their assets and strengths to spark community renewal and healing.
